Whitfields is an independent firm of Solicitors that was established in Formby 30 years ago by the Senior Partner Brian Whitfield.
The standard of service we provide to our clients is at the forefront of importance to us.
Everything we plan and do on behalf of our clients, is focused on providing you and your company with the best possible service and we believe that this is why our clients return to us time and time again and why the firm continues to grow through client recommendations.
We offer a full range of legal services to our clients, both at home and at work and we also have a strong commercial team working for business owners across a variety of disciplines.
Conversion to Limited Company
With effect from 1st November 2016, Whitfields has converted to a Limited Company registered in England and Wales with company number 07149173 and with the name Whitfields Solicitors Limited’ “the Ltd Company”. We shall continue to use ‘Whitfields’ as our trading name for the time being.
As part of the conversion the traditional partnership of Whitfields (“the Partnership”) transferred to the Ltd Company, its business and assets and the Ltd Company assumed certain liabilities and commitments of the Partnership. The transfer included client engagements, records and confidential or privileged information.
In practical terms it will be very much business as usual. The change will not affect the services we provide and the same team will continue to provide their services to you as before.
Reasons for Change
A Ltd Company structure is the preferred corporate structure for professional services firms and a very significant number of UK law firms have converted in recent years. We believe it is right for us to also convert to this structure, to provide the firm with a transparent and modern business platform for the future.
The Ltd Company is authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority with SRA Number 525099.
Our change in status does not affect our professional indemnity insurance in any way, and the Ltd Company holds the same level of cover as the partnership.
All money held by the Partnership on behalf of clients was transferred to the control of the Ltd Company on 1st November 2016.
New Terms of Business apply to all new work which the Ltd Company is instructed to carry out, on or after 1st November 2016. Existing Terms of Business which have been agreed with the Partnership in relation to; our role, the services you have asked us to provide, the team working for you, costs and timescales (or any other terms which have not been superseded by the new terms) will continue to operate as set out in your original client care letter with the Partnership, but will now be under the terms of your contract with Whitfields Solicitors Limited. For the avoidance of doubt, all aspects of your relationship going forward are now with the Ltd Company new Terms of Business will be issued in due course if you have not already received a copy.
If you do have any queries or questions concerning the above please do hesitate to speak to your usual contact.
